Many people don’t know this, but the tarot was actually derived from standard playing cards, when 22 trump cards were added to the suits in the 1400s. [1] So, playing cards and tarot are already closely linked.
Why would you read tarot with playing cards instead of regular tarot cards?
You’re working with most of the same cards, you just don’t have the pictures to tell you what they mean. Instead, you’re going to have to memorize some attributes. (So keep this article handy!)
I personally found that learning how to read the tarot with playing cards made me a better tarot card reader. I have a lot of earth energy in my birth chart, so I tend to be a very logical thinker and have a difficult time relying solely on intuition.
